After establishing a solid 311 total during the first two days of play, Australia undertook the task of restricting the West Indies batsmen who stood at 49 for 3 at the beginning of the 3rd day of the 2nd Test currently being played
at the Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Day 3 (April 17) commenced with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kieran-Omar-Akeem-Powell-c71441 (19) – all having been dismissed, lbw, on the second day.
The deteriorating pitch offered a wealth of opportunities to the spinners – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Michael-Lyon-c78822.
The 62-run partnership between Bravo and Chanderpaul got the Windies up to 100, after which Bravo, having brought his individual score up to 38, found himself dismissed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MEK-Hussey-c1942, lbw. The elder batsman, however, worked his way up to a sizeable 94
in addition to establishing a 130-run stand with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/N-Deonarine-c2051 (55).
Things were looking promising for the Windies, but Aussie off-spinner Lyon launched a deadly assault and went on to claim most of the Windies batsmen.
Lyon broke up the successful partnership by claiming Deonarine’s wicket in the 88th over, following which Chanderpaul was also sent packing, lbw, by the 24-year-old. At this point, the host team stood at 231 for 6 – trailing by 80.
However, the remaining batting line-up failed to make a mark and displayed an alarming lack of depth, with the middle and lower order unable to stand up to Lyon, crumbling after Chanderpaul’s dismissal.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382 was sent back to the pavilion for 1, after giving Hussey an easy catch at long-on
off the right-armer.

Day 3 ended with Baugh and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Fidel-Henderson-Edwards-c57010 at the crease, and the Windies at a tricky 252 for 9 – trailing by 59 runs, with one wicket remaining. However, it was a successful day for the Aussies, as Lyon managed to claim the second five-wicket haul of his
Test career, after his 5 for 34 during his Test debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in 2011 at Galle.
