West Indies v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 – 2nd Test (Day 4) – Match Recap – Australia lead by 127
The Aussies looked to be going strong and had secured a 127-run lead against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 before rain interrupted play on the 4th day of the ongoing 2nd Test of the Frank-Worrell trophy on April 18, at the Queen's Park Oval in Port
of Spain, Trinidad.
The day began with the Windies at 252, trailing by 59 runs with wicketkeeper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CS-Baugh-c1293 (17) and Fidel Edwards (0) at the crease, and one wicket remaining. The hosts only managed to add 5 more runs to their tally, with Baugh increasing his individual
score to 21, before he was dismissed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Beer-c1949, lbw.
The Windies ended their first innings at 257, all out by the 105th over, trailing by 54. The Aussies stepped up to the crease for their 2nd innings, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DA-Warner-c1301 opening, but their meagre 26-run stand was a far cry
from the solid 53-run base they had provided in the first innings- a testament to the fast deteriorating pitch.
Despite the difficult surface, pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KAJ-Roach-c1758 proved to be the deadliest element in the Windies bowling attack, demolishing the top order. He struck early, breaking up the partnership between the opening pair in the 11th over. Warner was caught
out by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DM-Bravo-c1386 at slip off Roach, after a mere 17-run contribution.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377, who has been having a mediocre tour of the Windies so far.
However, he appeared to be in good form on day 4, establishing  a 31-run stand with Cowan, which was brought to an abrupt halt when Roach swooped in to polish off the top order, sending Cowan packing at 20, lbw.
The Aussies were left dangling at 57 for 3, but Ponting appeared to be establishing a comfortable rhythm, and racked up an individual score of 32. He was joined at the crease by skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 (3) but the two had only posted a combined total of 16
on the board before rain interrupted play, forcing them to stop at 73 for 3 – a 127-run lead for the Aussies, with 7 wickets remaining, and the promising pair of Ponting and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 at the crease.
Spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Fidel-Henderson-Edwards-c57010 did not succeed in claiming any scalps, but Shillingford did register a good economy rate of 2.20, having conceded 33 runs in 15 overs.
Roach, after claiming 5 for 105 in the first innings, featured as the more prominent pacer on the Windies squad, registering figures of 10-1-27-3 on day 4. He dedicated his total of 8 wickets in the match so far to the late legendary Windies paceman Malcolm
Marshall, and will be looking to add to that tally as the two teams face off for the final day of the Test today on April 19.
