West Indies v Australia – 3rd Test – Day 5 – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 grab series win – Live Score and Update
Australia 328 & 259 v West Indies 218 & 294 (96.3 ov) - Australia won by 75 runs
Dominica: Australia have once again exhibited their domination in the world of cricket after they grabbed a 2-0 series win against hosts http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 by winning the third and final Test between the two countries on April 27, at Windsor Park, Roseau.
Aussie skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978, was pivotal in his team’s victory as not only did he bat well, but also gave a surprising performance with the ball by grabbing five wickets to leave West Indies flabbergasted in the second innings.
The skipper’s enormous effort with the ball, barred the hosts from chasing down a daunting total of 370 runs needed to win the match.
"It's been a long summer, and today tops it off. It has been a lot of hard work, West Indies pushed us hard, they have come a long way under Darren and Ottis, I think West Indies cricket is on the rise. We probably didn't expect it to turn as much as it did in Dominica. It has been a great effort from the whole team, I think a lot of credit goes to young,” said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 in the post match ceremony.
Meanwhile, West Indies batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Wade-c1933 was given the honours of Player of the Match for making a hefty contribution with the bat in the first innings as he smacked 106 runs, just when Australia were in trouble.
Earlier, the day started with the Windies resuming their second innings in a bid to seek glory by levelling the series by successfully chasing down the required target.
Having hammered 173 runs for the loss of five wickets at stumps on the penultimate day, it was always going to be tough ending the run chase on a success as the hosts had already lost their main batsmen a day earlier.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/N-Deonarine-c2051 was perhaps their best bet against the Aussies, but he became the day’s first victim as he lost his wicket to Clarke after adding just two runs to his overnight tally of 11.
It was then a brave innings of 61 runs from skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382, as he prevented the Australians from winding up the game in the wee hours.
Nonetheless, West Indies could muster only 294 runs before losing the series to the Aussies.
