Monday, April 09:  After ending the third day of play in the first Test against West Indies by posting 248 runs, Australia now trail by 201 runs with five wickets in hand in their first innings, at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados.
After getting hammered by the hosts for 449 runs, the Aussies made a steady comeback in the match by giving a commendable batting performance.
The star of the day was none other than, the Australian skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978, who forged a stiff resistance by belting an astounding and mature innings of 73 runs.
Clarke took his time on the crease to belt this nifty innings which not only frustrated West Indies but also tired the fielders who had to stay on the field hoping to see an end to his innings.
On the other hand, Clarke also showed his comrades what was needed to bat on the wicket which at that time was seemingly helping the fielding side.
Finally after the departure of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Wade-c1933 standing on a tally of 19.
Earlier in the day, Australia resumed their first innings on 44 without the loss of any wicket, hoping to subdue http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, who had hammered an intimidating total on the board at the end of their innings.
However, the third day did not bring http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Graham-Downton-c44379 Cowan fell after scoring 14 runs.
Then before http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382, after playing an innings of 42 runs.
Two overs later, the Aussies saw the demise of former skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377, who fell after scoring four runs.
With 133 runs, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 also perished after scoring 39 runs, leaving his skipper in charge.
West Indies now have Australia in a tough spot and if they tighten the screws tomorrow and manage to wrap-up the Aussie innings, they have a chance to post a lead of around two to three hundred before declaring their second innings to bowl-out Australia on the final day.
