West Indies overcame the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) XI by 65 runs in a tour match at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium, Fatullah in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 on Friday, October 7, 2011.
The tourists bated first and managed only 217 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 45 overs. First-drop http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DM-Bravo-c1386 was the top scorer of the innings with 47 runs.
In reply, the BCB XI were all out for 152 runs in 41 overs. Veteran batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alok-Kapali-c43787 was the highest scorer for his side with 41 runs, but the effort went in vain.
Toss was won by the home team’s skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahriar-Nafees-c2486, who opted to field first. The wicket was not the easiest to bat on, as it was slow and had some assistance for both spinners and seamers.
This made things a touch difficult for the Windies, as openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kieran-Omar-Akeem-Powell-c71441 struggled to get off to a solid start.
The former was dismissed after a struggling knock of four runs from 20 balls. He had a decent time with the bat during the Champions League Twenty20 tournament, but failed to translate his form in today’s game.
Powell took his time to settle down, but failed to find the gaps in the field. He managed only 18 runs off 41 balls before being dismissed.
Bravo and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marlon-Nathaniel-Samuels-c74804 steadied the ship for the visitors, scoring 59 run for the third wicket partnership. Both looked impressive, but were unable to capitalise on the starts they got to their respective innings.
Bravo was the third wicket to fall in the innings after contributing 47 runs to the total with the help of five fours and one six. He was followed by Samuels, who managed 30 runs in his cameo.
A quick fire 30 from wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/D-Ramdin-c1299 helped the team reach 217 in the end.
Veteran Bangladesh player http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Ashraful-c76740 picked up three wickets in two overs, guiding his side into a strong position.
However, the hosts were unable to impress once they came out to bat. Ashraful and Kapali were the only two batsman to score some solid runs for the team whereas the rest of the batting was below par. They scored 32 and 41 in their respective outings.
BCB XI were all out for 152 runs, as they were unable to face the accurate bowling from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Rampaul-c2233, who took four wickets in the match.
