http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 v India - 3rd Test – First session summary – day-4
West Indies had a positive first session against India on day four of the final Test at the Wankhede Stadium in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 on Friday, November 25, 2011.
The tourists picked up three wickets until lunch, as India scored 376 for the loss of six wickets.
The biggest loss for the Men in Blue was the wicket of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556, who missed out on his 100th international ton by just six runs.
There was no concern for the batsmen today just like the previous three days, as the pitch showed no signs of wear. The ball was coming nicely onto the bat and stage looked set for a historic milestone for the Master Blaster.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/VVS-Laxman-c2772 was unable to score even a single run today. He was dismissed after contributing 32 runs to the total with the help
of three boundaries.
The solid right-handed batsman does not really throw his wicket away after getting a start, but today was not a good day for him, as he edged one ball from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marlon-Nathaniel-Samuels-c74804.
However, the crowd did not seem to bother about that much, as Tendulkar was nearing his 100th century.
The veteran played some beautiful strokes and would have been extremely honoured to achieve one of the biggest landmarks of his career on his home ground.
This was not the case though, as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Rampaul-c2233 stunned the entire crowd present at the venue. Tendulkar was sent back to the pavilion after scoring 94 runs with the help of eight fours and a couple of sixes.
There was pin drop silence, as the legendary cricketer walked out of the ground. He was followed by skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, who only managed eight runs in his short stay at the crease and the hosts were under a spot of bother with 331/6.
However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Ashwin-c2228 steadied the ship for their side, scoring 45 runs for the seventh wicket partnership. They were unbeaten on 33 and 26 respectively before the session was called off.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382, Rampaul and Edwards managed to pick up one wicket each in the session today and will look to wrap things up quickly once the play resumes.
