India were dominant in the first session of play against West Indies on the final day’s play of the third Test at the Wankhede Stadium, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 in India on Saturday, November 26, 2011.
The Men in Blue managed to pick up eight wickets in the session for just 53 runs, as the opposition was bowled out for 134.
This has allowed India to possibly fight for a win, as they have been given a target of 243 runs with more than 60 overs remaining in the day. The team has already scored 16 in three overs before the umpires called for lunch.
The pitch in Mumbai was very good for batting, especially on the first four days. However, it started turning a lot on day five, which proved to be quite a big challenge for the West Indian batsmen, who are known to struggle against the slower bowlers.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DM-Bravo-c1386 were the two overnight not-out batsmen for the visitors, as they started the day on 81 for the loss of two wickets.
The pair only managed to add 10 more runs to their partnership before the former was sent back to the pavilion early in the session.
Brathwaite scored 35 runs and was undone by some extra bounce and spin, as his attempted cut shot lobbed into the air and straight to the hands of the fielder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556.
Next to go was Bravo, who was yet again impressive for his side, top scoring with 48 runs. He was batting solidly, but chipped one spinning ball straight to the hands of the bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PP-Ojha-c2198.
Just four balls later, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marlon-Nathaniel-Samuels-c74804 was stumped off the bowling of Ojha, who was responsible for all five wickets to fall in the West Indian second innings until then.
It was then time for off-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Ashwin-c2228 to strike, as he trouble the lower-order batsmen with his variety. He took four out of the last five wickets to fall, as the Caribbean Kings were all out for 134 runs in their second outing.
Ojha finished with six wickets in the innings whereas the other four wickets were picked up by his spin bowling partner Ashwin.
India’s openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sehwag-c2739 came out to bat with a positive intent, but only had three overs remaining before lunch break. They scored nine and six respectively before the close of session, as the hosts reached 16 without a loss.
