West Indies v New Zealand - New Zealand tour of United States of America and West Indies - 1st Test - Toss Report
The first Test match between hosts West Indies and tourists New Zealand is about to get underway, at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua, where New Zealand have won the toss and elected to bat first.
After winning the T20I series by (2-0) and then the One Day International (ODI) series by (4-1), the Windies are looking to carry their winning streak in the longest format of the game. The return of flamboyant batsman, Chris Gayle is also a big boost for the hosts.
On the other hand, New Zealand would be looking to avenge their disastrous tour by subduing the rampant Windies in this five-day match.
Playing in the West Indies, will test the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 batsmen, where they will need to counter the unexpected nature of the pitches and also the Windies bowlers, who are exceptional while bowling at home.
Captain's Comments:
New Zealand skipper, Ross Taylor: We need to start well. Nethula and Southee are out. Wagner comes in. Vettori and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Christopher-Alroy-Martin-c50714 have played a lot of Test matches and we are glad to have their experience.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-Barath-c886 have been left out. Tests are a different contest and we have to put in our best performance.
Pitch Report: The pitch is reckoned to have uneven bounce, as it is dry with a bit of grass on it. The batsmen will need to take their time to settle in before going for some big shots. The bowlers, however, will need to maintain a steady line and length to succeed.
