West Virginia moth identification ?

okay, i know this is a stab in the dark b/c i didn't get a good picture, but i'll try to give a description although i don't even know the proper terms

white with a black head and black and white fuzzy legs. there were two sets of wings. the top set was mostly white but had red (slightly brown) edging except for a few places (it was white halfway down its back and then briefly on the outer wing edge before curving towards the rear). the bottom wing set that can only be seen when it spreads its wings are orange

at first i thought the moth looked like a strange slug, although it also kind of looked like a funny little race-car
