West Way Ranger, 7 to 2 betting favourite, wins ‘THE GALA CORAL SPRINT’ at Romford on Jan 13

West Way Ranger, sprung up a massive surprise, as the son of Droopys Maldini out of Sebastians Thief, sealed top position in ‘THE GALA CORAL SPRINT’, held at Romford on Friday, January 13, 2012.
It was a 225 metre long Grade Open Race (OR), and there were six rampant hounds contesting for £175, the prize money.

Bonville Sin, trained by M L Locke, was declared as favourite, with the odds of 6 to 4, ahead of the competition.

However, it was not his day at all, as the hound was outclassed by West Way Ranger, trained by P.W. Young.
The black dog was sent off with a starting price of 7 to 2, clocking the distance in 13.69 seconds.

Although the clash between Finnside Scolari and West Way Ranger was pretty intense, the former eventually won the title by a neck’s distance.
The runner-up dog, Finnside Scolari, crossed the wire in 13.72 seconds, after breaking from the sixth trap.

His winning probability was just 12 to 1 and therefore, he was not one of the favourites in the sprint. The son of Droopys Scolari out of Gragane Spirit, however, shocked the spectators by sealing the second place.
He was followed by, Bonville Sin – the favourite hound with the odds of 6 to 4. After getting out of the fourth stand, the son of Daves Mentor out of Farantane Sinead, made a fine start, but lost his pace, advancing into the race.

As a result of his inconsistency, he could only manage to grab the third position, covering the area in 13.80 seconds.
The fourth and fifth positions went to, Diesel Elsie and Air Force Solo, respectively.

The contest for the third last place was a real battle, but Diesel Elsie, the daughter of Droopys Scolari out of Sterling Bale, sealed the spot by a neck’s margin.

With odds of 7 to 2, the blue b***h stepped out on the track from fifth stall, and reached the winning post in 14.00 seconds flat.
The fifth position hound, Air Force Solo, son of Top Honcho out of Nifty Princess, made it to the final point in 14.03 seconds.

Trained by R.J. Holloway, the black dog was holding odds of 8 to 1, as he commenced the act from the second stand.
The last position belonged to Salisman – G Oswald’s trainee, with starting price of 9 to 2.

The son of Droopys Agassi out of Droopys Natasha wrapped up the action in 14.13 second, completing the order of finish.
