Wester Ross likely to shine at Sandown – Handicap Chase Preview
Evan Williams’ talented black gelding, Wester Ross, stands as the hot favourite runner for Bettor.Com Social Betting Handicap Chase which is scheduled to be held at Sandown horseracing track on Friday, February 24.
For the Class 3 contest of 2m distance, six runners including Song Sung Blue, Wester Ross, Lord Singer, Novikov, War Party and Johnny Mullen are geared up to show their guts.
The £5,848 race will commence at 2:25 (GMT). Ahead of it, we present here a betting preview for the guidance of the bookmakers who are going to move their money in the market.
This preview will point out those horses who are likely to fill the top three spots on the results card after the competition.
Wester Ross
The 44-race veteran gelding won a big race by 4 lengths at Leicester track on January 24, 2012. Prior to this, he had achieved a marvellous victory during November 2011. As a whole, the eight-year-old has won 4 races so far.
Capitalising on the form given by his fresh success, the talented runner is set to show a big run again today. He will stand tough at Sandown and bag his second straight triumph, having 85 percent chances to thrive.
Song Sung Blue
Following his maiden victory in January 2010, the trainee of Colin Tizzard won the second and last race of his career in March 2010. In his first outing at Sandown in March 2009, the black gelding badly got pulled out.
The nine-year-old is returning to action after a gap of almost three months. Though the 14-race runner seems to be greatly unpredictable at the moment, but his past performance depict that he will do well today. He is likely to finish 2nd at Sandown.
Lord Singer
Gary Moore’s black gelding has been winless since February 2011. However, he registered some decent performances in the recent past. In his last outing at Taunton on January 31, 2012, the veteran runner finished 2nd. He also finished 2nd
in a race during December 2011. He is expected to fight nicely today, but he will have to bank on 3rd position as the above two runners are too tough.
Conclusion
Besides this trio, the other three horses also possess good spirit but they are not as skilled and momentous as the above ones are. In short, the competition will be very close. Wester Ross will have to apply utmost firepower to succeed. Good luck to all
the runners.
