Western Australia beat Queensland by 7 wickets in Sheffield Shield

WA took a 147-run first innings lead against the visitors, which proved to be decisive in the match. Queensland scored 273 runs in their second innings, but they didn’t have enough runs to defend. The start to the second innings for the visitors was below
par, as they lost four wickets for just 68 runs.

Queensland captain James Hopes and middle-order batsman Jason Floros scored half-centuries to give their team some hope. However, one of them should have carried on and gotten a big score for the team. Hopes was the innings top scorer with 68 runs whereas;
Floros managed a quick-fire 60 off just 56 balls.

The first-drop Michael Hussey, who was called up to the national squad for the ICC World Cup 2011 during the tea break, failed to impress in the second innings after managing just 11 runs. Even though the veteran player scored only 30 runs in the match,
he was preferred by the Australian selectors over Peter Siddle and Dirk Nannes, as a replacement for the injured Doug Bollinger.
Three quick wickets would have given some hope to the visitors, but WA captain Marcus North and middle-order batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Voges-c925 constructed an unbeaten 42 run stand for the fourth wicket to guide their team to victory.

Marcus Harris was named as player-of-the-match following his magnificent performance in the first innings, scoring 157 runs for the hosts.
