Western Australia complete an easy win against Queensland
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865 (WA) completely dominated the match against Queensland at Brisbane in the Big Bash Twenty20 tournament. Queensland failed to chase down the mammoth total posted by WA and lost the match by 32 runs.
WA won the toss and elected to bat first as the wicket seemed flat. The team opened the innings with the flamboyant West Indian batsman Chris Gayle and Liam Davis. The pair lived-up to the expectations of their team and amassed a massive opening partnership
of 144 runs.
Gayle seemed to be out with a purpose in today’s match as he was on destruction mode. He manhandled the Queensland bowlers and entertained the crowd. Although, the left-hander missed out on a century, he did the job for his team. The Jamaican star scored
92 runs off just 40 balls. His innings included seven 4s and eight 6s.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Liam-Davis-c1839 watched the fireworks from the other end and also contributed with his solid fifty. He scored 53 runs off 46 balls before he was run-out. A couple of quick wickets fell for WA after that but that didn’t halt the flow of runs and the lower middle-order
kept the momentum of innings going.
20-year-old Tom Beaton played aggressively scoring 21 runs off 10 balls and followed the foot-steps of Gayle. He was supported well by the WA wicketkeeper batsman Luke Ronchi, who remained unbeaten on 22 off 17 balls to take the total to 202.
None of the Queensland bowlers were able to trouble the batsmen. The flow of runs seemed to be unstoppable. However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Rimmington-c2072 took 1 wicket for 29 runs in his 4 over spell for Queensland.
The chase was always going to be a difficult one for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834 batsmen. The team opened with captain James Hopes and the Englishman Michael Lumb. Hopes was disappointing as he got out early after just scoring 5.
Lumb played some good shots but he was dismissed after playing a good knock of 42 runs off 33 balls. His innings included two 4s and three 6s.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Reardon-c2071 and the pair constructed a 75-run partnership for their team. Philipson was out after scoring a fighting knock of 32 runs off 26 balls.
Reardon completed his half-century but his effort went in vain as the WA total was a huge one and it required some extraordinary stuff from the top-order batsmen. Reardon was out after scoring 56 runs.
Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sajid-Mahmood-c88005 grabbed one wicket each for their team.
