http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865 struggle against Tasmania in Sheffield Shield
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854 requires eight wickets to complete an innings victory against Western Australia (WA) in their Sheffield Shield match being played at the WACA in Perth. WA reached 44 runs for the loss of two wickets at lunch of the third day’s play.
Earlier, Tasmania were bowled-out for 426 runs in their first innings, taking a lead of 266 runs over the hosts. The wicket at Perth did have some pace and bounce, but batting seems to have become easier over the course of the match.
The overnight unbeaten batsmen http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Luke-Butterworth-c1850 and Ben Hilfenhaus started the third day for Tasmania. Butterworth was unbeaten on 91 runs and was looking for his century, while Hilfenhaus was not-out on four runs. However, the set batsman was the first
wicket to fall in the day. He got out just one run short of his century. Butterworth truly deserved to reach his ton, but luck didn’t favour him. His 99 off 169 balls included 11 boundaries.
Soon after the fall of Butterworth, Hilfenhaus was also dismissed. He had been defending the ball most of the time, but his team required him to attack. However, he wasn’t able to stay at the wicket for too long and was out after scoring just six runs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Hogan-c1956, who both picked up two wickets each.
There was a lot of pressure on the WA openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marcus-Harris-c1897. The pair had to make sure that their team didn’t lose any wicket until the lunch break and then carry on to play solid cricket in the next two sessions of play.
However, it was a tough ask for them, and Robinson wasn’t able to cope with the pressure exerted on him. He was the first man to be dismissed in WA’s second innings, edging an away swinging ball from Hilfenhaus into the hands of wicketkeeper Tom Triffitt.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Luke-Towers-c1858 then joined Harris at the crease and the pair played defensive cricket. This gave the Tasmanian team an opportunity to attack the batsmen, which worked out well for them. After scoring just 10 runs off 39 balls, Harris was also sent back to the
pavilion. That brought WA Captain Marcus North to the middle and the pair made sure that they didn’t lose any more wickets in the session.
Towers was unbeaten on 20 while North was on two runs when the umpires called the session off. Hilfenhaus and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Faulkner-c1643 took a wicket each for their team and will look to warp-up the WA innings in today’s play.
