Western Cape Cricket official murdered with a gun shot
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. The victim worked as a youth team manager for the provincial cricket association and was also reported to perform official duties at the Alma Marist CC. He was said to have been staying as a guest in the president suite as a guest.
It has been reported that Fairweather had had a disagreement with a traffic official.  Although the details about the shooting remain ambiguous, it is believed that the confrontation between the two about a traffic violation crossed limits after the victim refused to accept a parking ticket. Soon after, a gun-shot was fired. It cannot be said at the moment whether there were any eye-witnesses or not.
The Police have not convicted anyone yet but are still investigating at this stage. The police have one suspect at the moment, the same traffic official man who was seen having an argument with the victim Luke Fairweather moments before he was shot.
Luke was 49 years old and had represented the west province from 1980 to 1982. He only played two matches as a right-hand batsman.
The flags at Newlands will be flown during the fifth day of the last test between India and South Africa in the memory of the departed
The Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) is reported to have sent its condolences to the aggrieved.
The WPCA president said, “This news defies belief and the cricket fraternity is in deep shock."
The police spokesperson Andre Traut further added, “Information at our disposal was that the traffic official approached the victim and his mother for a traffic violation and then an argument broke out. The traffic officer was arrested and will make a court appearance in Wynberg once he is charged.”
