What challenges does western civilization face in the 21st century?

Answer 1

Knowing to how to effectively balance resources and consumption in an international and local level. So that they are not that many poor people and few rich like we see with countries. (there are a lot of poor countries in comparison to the rich ones)

I think that is the best way to escape the third world revolution.

First what is your idea of 'Western Civilisation'?

Employing the west European model of industry as a workable definition, I would say

1) technological breakthroughs to deal with energy, food, and economic crisis is one challenge

2) transformation of the 3rd world to become sustainable societies in their own right

3) maintaining reasonable population while measuring out regional conflicts in a productive manner

4) discovering a new philosophy of life; is it worthwhile to live forever? ethical issues about life and living things I think are not resolved; hence philiosophic tasks deserve much research work.

That's all I can think of for now.

Making more laws to protect human rights

Energy efficient transportation

Providing good programs  that will help homeless, and impoverished populations

Education

Deforestation

Finding homes for children in orphanages, and children in poor countries who need help

Global warming (this effects everyone)

Animal rights

Just to name a few.

Getting to grips with the reality of things...as they have to see that a few centuries ago...the colonised a country and in another few centries up to the 21rst they have invaded other countries...so they have to relise the consequences are very tough and will be another stage to their very survival...and most immportantly they have to see it from this percpective.
