Western Conference bottom two in actionas Colorado Avalanche host Edmonton Oilers in their fourth meeting

The second last game of Saturday will be hosted by the Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi Center as the face the Edmonton Oilers.
This will be the fourth meeting between the two times out of the six scheduled meetings due to take place during the season between the two teams.
Out of the three games that have taken place so far, the Oilers won the first one while the Avalanche have won the previous two meetings, 4-3 and 5-1.
The Oilers are starting a road trip with the game against the Avalanche. During the course of road trip they will be playing five games.
Oilers are last in the Western Conference and the league and things have gotten even tougher. The number one draft pick and star player, Taylor Hall, is out for the rest of the season after a suffering a knee injury.
The Oilers have shown some resilience in the last few games which have resulted in two out of two wins for them.
However, they are out of contention of making it into the play-off cut. Coupled with the above mentioned is another big problem that two of their top scorers have been injured.
Dustin Penner, saw himself being traded to the Los Angeles Kings while Ales Hemsky injured himself during the game against the 4-2 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
During the game, Hall came up with an incredible display of his talents that saw him scoring a hat-trick but he also injured himself.
"We drafted character, so we definitely expect character to show up and it did," coach Tom Renney said of Hall after the game. "Good for him. Scraps happen. He had enough of the liberties."
The Oilers have played 65 games during the course of the season out of which they have won 22 games in regulation time and eight games in overtime and scored a total of 52.
Avalanche have played 64 games during the course of the season during which they have won 26 games in regulation time and eight games in overtime to score a total of 60 points.
Avalanche is another one of the franchises from whom a lot was expected, but not only have they not met the expectations but they have come up with one of the worst performances during the course of their entire history.
Their recent form has been terrible as they come up with just one win out of the last 14 games they have played.
Though they could have won the game against the Sharks this past Tuesday but they fell behind in shootout to lose the game 2-1 in shootout.
"The way we've been playing the last few games, I think it's been a positive for us" center Paul Stastny said. "It's been like that for a while. You can't hang your head. I think you just have to stay positive and work hard to get out of it."
