How was the western expansion related to the war of 1812? Was it part of the cause of the war? (part of the cause of the war was the british warship attacks on US navi vessels in chesapeake, and in general, the british hostility)

  1. It was not really Western Expansion, but rather the refusal of the British to honor their agreement from the treaty ending the American Revolution. The British had agreed to evacuate all of the forts in the area between the Appalachian Mountains and the Mississippi River, but they had never removed the troops and continued to meddle in the area. This caused a lot of hostility between the USA and the British forces in Canada who were commanding the British forts along the Mississippi.
