Western Force await James O'Connor’s decision about his Super Rugby career- Rugby update
Western Force is anticipating the decision of its star player, James O’Connor, regarding his Super Rugby future with the side. O’Connor has not yet decided whether he will play for Force in the upcoming Super Rugby seasons or not. He has been approached
by various Australian derbies to sign contracts with them for the upcoming Super Rugby seasons but he has not committed to a club as of now.
James O’Connor has been playing for Western Force in the ongoing competition of Super Rugby and his contract will come to an end after this season. Earlier, it was reported that the senior campaigner would declare his future line of action during current
week but he has delayed it until the mid of next month.
Western Force coach, Richard Graham, told reporters that he is hopeful of retaining the services of O’Connor. Graham told media outlets about the latest talks with O’Connor and said, "My conversation (with him) was based on the rugby program itself, his
development at the Western Force, his position within the team going forward and what we believe we can continue to offer him as a rugby player. He is now making his decision based on what has been offered to him by us as an organisation."
Graham, when asked about the unimpressive performance of his team in the continuing season of Super Rugby, replied: "We haven't achieved what we've set out to achieve. But I think in seven of the 11 games, we've led at the 65th minute, so we know within
ourselves we're extremely competitive." Western Force is placed 13th on the point’s tables after they won just three matches after 11 outgoings.
The star full-back had confirmed that he was asked by various Super Rugby teams to play for them. He also added that he has been approached by Melbourne Rebels, ACT Brumbies and Queensland Reds to sign contracts.
James O’Connor also plays for the Australian national side. He made his international debut in 2008 against the Italian side as a full-back. Since then he has become a formidable part of his national side and was named Rookie-of-the-Year in 2009.
