''Western Riding'' first reached the United States by the Spanish in the 16th century. It started from the work of farm animals and traditions of fighting, and both the handling and mode of riding took the form of the performance of requirements or requests of the cattleman on domestic animal farm in the west of the United States.

There is a striking deviation of Western riding from English riding than it is perceived by people in general. In riding both modes need a firm and strong seat, with the hip socket equilibrated or poised over the infantries, with hands free of the horse-seat so as to keep off troubling the equilibrium of the horse and intervening with its proper functioning.

The chiefly identifiable characteristic of western mode or way is the horse-seat which is helpful in riding at length. It has a characteristic broad handgrip ornamented with a horn. It also has a big deeply shaped seat with a huge back. The support consisting of metal loops into which rider's feet go are broader and the horse's seat has loops along with strings. Different things can be tied to the seat using these loops and tier strings.

Western horses had asked to act or do with a movable bridle restricted by one assistance or help. The normal western prickle lacks a noseband and generally exists of an only set of reins.

Western horses are allowed to act with a freely hanging bridle that is managed single handedly. The ordinary western bridle is devoid of a strap that goes over the nose. It is generally composed of a single reins attached to a horse's bit with an attached chain or strap to check the horse as compared to an English horse. Texas tradition is to have a longer split separated rein, or the closed-end California traditional reins. It has a long single attachment on the ends that can be used as a whip with a leather thong at the end.

Riders usually wear long sleeved shirt and jeans. The boots are strong with a special heel that fix into the stirrup and keep him from falling off the horse's back. Defensive footwear is also warned that is made up of leather sometimes. Bright colored, clean, and tight fitted dress is worn for competition.

English customs have cool clothing and a quiet background whereas Western tradition is quite dissimilar. It has catchy and glamorous equipments and decorated horse seat with a colorful whip. Both men and women cloths are spectacularly accessorized with various decorative items. English riders are relaxed. They stroll around the field calmly while Western riders attempt to be extremely speedy with an ability of a dead run stoppage.
