Western Showmanship and Halter?

Can I wear black dress pants for both if my out fit is black?Also any tips on grooming a horse to get ready for show? Thank you!

Yep you sure can!  I prefer showing in black pants and a matching jacket/tunic instead of jeans and a western shirt.  It gives a more polished look.

As far as grooming goes, pay attention to every little detail!  Put plenty of bands in the mane, smaller neater sections look soooo much better than bigger chunks.  It takes longer but will really pay off in the long run. Make sure the feet are clean and either blackened or oiled.  Really do a good job clipping too.  Make sure and shine the silver and clean the leather on your halter.  That makes a HUGE difference and can really help you to stand out.
