so i have a rather old computer, [don't tell me to trash it, i'm not going to] and the hard drive on it recently died, so i have to replace it. but the problem is, i have to put my hard drive on compatibility/reserve mode and i have absolutely no idea how to do that. the computer is currently completely dead, and after i install the hard drive i have to reinstall the operating system.

if somebody could help, i'd really love that (:

  1. When you removed the old hard drive B4 you can fit new one you must set it to MA master

At the back where able goes will be a Jumper pin setup and usually on hard drive case is where to put the jumpers on which pins

Yours need to go on the MA pins also the wide cable has a stripe on it this stripe needs to go next to the 4 pin power plug

Then when booting go into BIOS and set computer to boot from CD insert CD and save changes in BIOS and reboot your computer should then boot from installation CD follow on from there
