Western pleasure show bits what are legal?

i am starting my first year next year in western pleasure,i am needing photos and info on the legal bits you can have in the show ring?.

  1. At the quarter horse shows that I've been to, most people use curb bits.  They have classes that specifically say only snaffle bits, so if you enter one of those, they check at the start of the class to make sure it's really a snaffle.

  2. You're entering a two year old filly in a western pleasure show? I shudder to think at what age you broke her.

    Generally, horses under a certain age are shown in either a snaffle or a bosal, and are ridden two-handed. I believe the most common age range is five and under for the snaffle/bosal.

    As far as curbs go, I like to think simpler is better. Just a regular old curb will do, no need to get all fancy with it. But for a two year old, I would definitely stick with a snaffle or a bosal.
