Westmead Apollo confident to claim Maiden Dup title
Westmead Apollo is quite confident to clinch top spot in the high-stakes contest of the Bookmakers 550 Maiden Dup that will take place at Henlow racecourse on Thursday night, May 10. The action is scheduled to start at 20:30 (GMT).
In the Open Race over a distance of 550 meters, the C. Grasso-trained blue dog will run against four hounds such as Bodell Delight, Ooh That Lady, Clonmoyle Rover and Westmead Jules. The prize purse contains £150.
Westmead Apollo has been winning with regular intervals since the very beginning of his career. The two-year-old veteran hound has a number of glaring feats to his name.
During the last couple of months, the dashing dog made some iconic marks. After winning two races and finishing second in one tough contest during April, the talented hound moved on to gain a runner-up position in his last outing on May 3. This has helped the dog gain the highest odds in the betting market.
At the moment, the son of Droopys Vieri out of Westmead Aoifa is awash with winning momentum and fighting spirit that will lend a great hand to him in tonight’s marathon. If Westmead Apollo runs to his best, his chances to thrive will be up to 90 percent.
Each one of Bodell Delight and Westmead Jules is also likely to perform well in the Dup.
Bodell Delight excellently finished first in her last start on May 5, 2012. Prior to this, the H. Kemp-trained black b***h had achieved four runner-up positions in a row during March-April. She also bagged two classic triumphs in the month of March.
On the other hand, Westmead Jules finished second in her second last outing on April 19, 2012. Since starting her career in November 2011, the N. Savva-trained black b***h has accomplished a couple of victories to date.
Come what may, success will fall in the lap of Westmead Apollo; however, he may have to face fair resistance in the race. Let us see how the hot favourite hound manages to come up to the expectations of the market. Good luck to all the contestants.
