Westmead Melanie with just the right credentials for the Williamhill.Com Springbok on 24th February
The first semi-final of the Williamhill.Com Springbok is to be held on Friday, 24th February at Wimbledon. The open race will be over 480 metres hurdle and has the prize money worth £150 attached.
On the lineup of, six the strongest participant is Westmead Melanie, Droopys Maldini’s black daughter out of b***h Mega Delight, is trained by Nick Savva. The four-year-old has not missed a single race ever since the new season began and brought the 2011 campaign to a climax with posting a victory too.
Out of the four times that she raced in 2012, Westmead Melanie was entered as a favourite thrice.
Westmead Melanie, the 4/9 favourite for the Williamhill.Com 3rd Springbok Trial Stakes won the race on 28th January at Wimbledon. She covered the 480 metres distance in 29.50 seconds.
Enjoying her luck, she captured the Williamhill.Com 5th Springbok Trial Stakes Division 1 on 11th February at Wimbledon. This time she clocked the 480 metres distance in 29.71 seconds, leading by amazing seven lengths.
It was this race that qualified Westmead Melanie for a hat trick.
Her most recent start and victory was on 18th February in the Williamhill.Com Springbok 1st Round Heat 1 at Wimbledon, raced over 480 metres that she covered in 29.69 seconds.
Today will be Westmead Melanie’s fifth start of the new season with almost assured possibilities of taking the winning streak to five.
Another capable entry for the race is Pretty Maldini, Droopys Maldini’s five-year-old son out of b***h Very Pretty. He has not been able to record a victory through the three races that he was part of ever since the season took off.
However, he did keep a firm grip on the second position that he kept striking in all those starts.
On 25th January, Pretty Maldini was second against Affane Master who covered the 480 metres hurdle in 30.17 seconds and led by ¾ of a length. He then finished second on 14th February while in contention with Highview Major who clocked the 265 metres distance in 16.78 seconds.
On 18th February, he took away the runner up’s title in the Williamhill.Com Springbok 1st Round Heat 4 in opposition with Crofter who was the 11/8 favourite of the race and was ahead by a staggering 7 ¼ lengths.
If the race today will make it possible for Westmead Melanie to extend her victories or provide a chance to Pretty Maldini to post his seasonal debut victory, will take shape soon.
