Westmead Shaw to conquer the Ladbrokes.Com Pall Mall Stakes Heat 1 at Oxford
The Ladbrokes.Com Pall Mall Stakes Heat 1 will be hosted by Oxford over 450 metres flat on Thursday, 7th June. Competing for the £150 prize money are Rio Torino, Brittons Empire, Glenadda Magic, Westmead Shaw, Farneys Mark and Freds Champ.
With the potential to make it to the other end of the wire before any of the other contenders is Westmead Shaw, Ballymac Maeve’s three-year-old black son out of b***h, Westmead Swift.
He held on to his seasonal debut on 24th January at Romford over 400 metres by reaching the other end of the wire in 24.23 seconds. He led the runner up of the race, Coom Bullet, by 1 ¾ lengths.
Failure in the next six races led him to getting drilled over 460 metres on 5th April at Henlow. He raced through the distance in 27.52 seconds. Serving the purpose that the training was meant for, Westmead Shaw won the next two races.
The three-year-old won the 9 O’Clock From Wimbledon on 14th April at Wimbledon over 480 metres. He timed the track distance in 28.85 seconds and led the runner up of the race, Taylors Cruise, by ¾ of a length.
He was then successful in the Sittingbourne Standard on 22nd April at Sittingbourne over 480 metres by completing the trip in 29.20 seconds. The 4/6 favourite winner led the field by 1 ¾ lengths.
His chances of striking a seasonal hat trick got dissolved in the fourth position in the Heat 4 (5 To Qualify) at Wimbledon over 480 metres.
The race was won by the 8/11 favourite of the race, Silverview Perky, who took 28.65 seconds to settle the distance.
From 14th May started the pattern of scoring second and then winning a race for the four most recent outings. He won the Sittingbourne Sprint on 20th May at Sittingbourne over 265 metres after racing for 16.13 seconds.
On 31st May he dominated the Stadium Bookmakers Standard at Oxford over 450 metres. He took away the race from the reeling in rival, the 7/4 favourite, Caribbean Rich, who was closing in at a short head’s difference.
The three-year-old is in form for dominating the race tonight.
