Westwood packs his bags for United States, a major championship win is all he wants!
Lee Westwood has now gone against himself and has finally made up his mind to move to United States in hopes of preparing in the best way for the future major championships.
It was 2 years back when Westwood denied the rumours of him shifting to the U.S for the PGA Tour. He clearly mentioned that he believes to stay with his family and there is no such plan for him to move to the United States.
This week, however, the 39-year-old has decided to move and believes that the conditions in the U.S will help him have a better look at his missing links, as far as his major championship record is concerned.
“I am moving to America at the end of this year because with our weather (in England), it is hard to practice when you want to practice,” said Westwood.
Westwood is considered as the most consistent golfer the world of golf has ever witnessed. He is ranked number 3 in the global rankings and has been in good shape since the start of his career.
The only glitch in his career record is a missing major championship win. That has been an issue for the 39-year-old and now Westwood is considering this pretty seriously.
This time, Westwood is planning on staying in the United States for a span of time, until he is in touch with the conditions that are present in the U.S.
“There are a number of reasons, but the main one is I haven't got that much time left at the top and I want to give myself the best chance of staying there as long as I can,” said the 39-year-old.
Westwood’s US Open dream ended in an embarrassment when his golf ball got stuck in a pine tree last week. He was photographed looking for his lost ball in the pine tree using a pair of binoculars, which was the funniest photograph in the golf world past
week.
It is a good decision on Westwood’s part and will make him more familiar with the conditions in the U.S.
The next US Open will be a test for Westwood because his shift from England to America is a giant leap for a major championship win.
