Westwood remains consistent with his lead at the Nordea Masters, will he lift the European title once again?
Lee Westwood is dominating the Nordea Masters and is leading the European Tour event in the third round.
Initially, Swedish golfer Magnus A. Carlsson had the early lead but the British golfer came back in his game and took the lead in the second and third round of the Nordea Masters.
Thing are looking pretty smooth for Westwood as his consistent performance combined with his deadly accuracy remain the perfect formula for his current status as the World number 3.
If Westwood wins the Nordea Masters, he may go up in the World ranking, which is the main objective of his participation in the European Tour event.
Carlsson, on the other hand, seems to have been taking the tour pretty easy. He started off clean but lost his groove half way through the rounds.
He stumbled from his early lead by a few bad stroke plays which allowed Westwood to take him over.
The European Tour has been a blessing for Westwood, as he has been invincible throughout the various tournaments all over the globe. The key aspect of his success remains his consistency as a professional golfer.
His position in the World ranking has been impressive throughout his career. The only factor that is missing in Westwood’s professional stat is a major championship win.
His focus has been on getting his first major victory as his participation at the Nordea Masters had the sole purpose of getting in shape for upcoming major tournaments.
He is confident and satisfied with his current form and is looking forward to win the Masters with consistency as the key focal aspect of his strategy.
“I hit a lot of good shots and I didn't get into too much trouble,” said Westwood. He admitted missing some good birdies, yet, was happy with his game.
“But I did misread a couple of good birdie putts on the front nine, at holes five and eight. But I think I putted well after that and I holed a couple on the back nine,” said the British World number 3.
Westwood is on the right path and remains the most consistent golfer of the current era. If he sticks to his consistent brilliance, he may become the leader on the global ranking in no time.
