Hi. My husband and I have been ttc for about 4 months. The last few days I've noticed a watery discharge, no color or smell. It is enough to make me change my underwear. AF isn't due until next week. Any idea what all of the extra fluid is? Thanks!

  1. I had a TON of CM when I was pg.  Typically you dry up just before AF, but if you are pg than the CM continues.

    Good luck!

  2. if it is more abundant than other times throughout the month, it could be that you are ovulating, or about to ovulate.  i always have some sort of cervical and sometimes it is more abundant than others.  i think that is normal.  i am always wet!  highly fertile cervical mucus should be more than the norm though, and could make you have to wear a pantyliner.

  3. This could be your fertile cervical fluid, which you get around the time you ovulate. This means you are at your most fertile right now and if you are TTC this is the best time to BD.

Fertile CF is stretchy and can stretch between  your fingers if you pull them apart.  To learn more about your CF and fertility, take the free online course at fertilityfriend.com.

    Cervical Fluid

Cervical fluid is produced by your cervix as you approach ovulation due to increased estrogen. It flows from the cervix into the v****a where it can easily be observed. Your cervical fluid changes throughout your cycle, increasing in quantity and becoming more clear and stretchy as you get closer to ovulation. Noticing and recording these changes will help you better time intercourse and recognize your own fertility pattern.

In the most common pattern, cervical fluid starts out dry after your period and then gets sticky, then creamy, then wet and watery, becoming most like eggwhite as you get closer to ovulation. You may get different types of cervical fluid on the same day.

This fertile CF is critical for getting pregnant. The sperm is nourished by the fertile CF and needs it to swim to the egg.

  4. Cervical mucus is normal; you're probably only noticing it now because you're TTC. If it's very watery then it could be fertile CM which would mean you're about to ovulate. You can read more about cervical mucus at http://www.fertilityfriend.com
