  1. A diode is a non-linear device.  As you apply a voltage and vary it from zero, the current through the diode in the forward direction increases linear for awhile, then hits a break point where the current flow switches on and increases abruptly.


  2. No.. it is a non linear element.

    It allows the flow of current in only one direction.

    Others examples include transistors, SCR's...etc

  3. What do you mean by linear but it is a D.C current element
