We’ve learnt lessons on how to play spin: Andy Flower – Cricket News Update
Commenting on the differences between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 (in which they were whitewashed, 3-0), and their sudden turn-around in the limited-overs leg of the tour (in which they defeated the host team 4-0 in the ODI
series), coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Flower-c44362 credits the team’s improvement in the lessons they learnt on how to play spin bowlers.
“I think we've learned some lessons from that Test series, specifically on how to play the spin,” he said. “Playing spin in the limited-overs games is slightly different to playing it in the Test game, but I still think that the lessons that we learnt there
have served us well through this limited-overs leg.”
The visitors were undone by the spin trickery of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757
now lurking close behind at second. However, they managed to bounce back in the ODI matches, claiming the one-day leg with a 4-0 clean sweep.
“That's part of it, we have got a group of people who are used to winning games of cricket and as disappointing as the Test series was, I don't think it dented people's confidence that badly that we couldn't come back and perform outstandingly well, and
that's exactly what they've done in this limited-overs leg,” Flower observed.
After losing the first game of the ongoing three-match T20 series, they were able to bounce back swiftly in the second game, which they won by 38 runs - a victory they owe largely to Jonny Bairstow’s unbeaten 60. Flower went on to praise the youngster for
his skillful handling of both spin and fast bowlers, saying he played an outstanding innings.
The 22-year-old right-handed batsman also credited the team’s improvement to the fact that the batsmen have had several chances to play Ajmal’s tricky deliveries, and consequently, have begun to decode them.
England are due to play the final deciding T20 on February 27 at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 for another Test series which kicks off on March 26.
