  1. to shiver = zittern

    to shiver, to tremble = erschauern

    ▪ Ich erschauere, wenn ich in Deiner Nähe bin.

    ▪ Ich zittere, wenn ich in Deiner Nähe bin.

    The meaning of this German sentence is not as romantic, as you might think. It's ambivalent.

    In my opinion, it's a little to close to a "to shiver with fear" misunderstanding.

    You could add a "reason" to make the expression positive:

    Happiness = Glück

    Excitement = Aufregung

    Anticipation = Erwartung

    ▪ Ich zittere vor Glück, wenn ich in Deiner Nähe bin.

    ▪ Ich erschauere vor Aufregung, wenn ich in Deiner Nähe bin.

    Alternative:

    Ich bin glücklich, wenn ich in deiner Nähe bin. = I'm happy, when I'm close to you.

  3. In German the correct and most used translation of "to shiver" would be "zittern". But it only has negative conotations, like shivering from cold or fear. So it would not fit the "i love you".

    There are some older, more poetical alternatives which might just fit into some kind of love message. But I would prefer one of Hankoh´s suggestions, they are quite good.

  4. Ich zittere wenn ich in der nahe von dir bin.
