Wharfedale Micro cd/clock radio alarm volume!!!

Question

no matter how many times I turn down the volume on the radio or cd on my alarm clock. whenever the alarm goes off it is at full blast and I cannot get the alarm to set at a reasonable sound level.I took it back to the shop and swapped it but this one does the same. Model is cd micro clock radio CCR1CDAny idea if this is a common fault?
