  1. Need a verse number to answer. For what I have seen, Peter did not mention these, but Paul did in Colossians 1:23...

if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard...

It is the Gospel that causes us to be perfected, established, strengthened and grounded.

  2. I think you are talking about 1 Peter 5:10. It says may the "God of all grace" will Himself perfect, establish, stregthen and ground us. I believe it's His grace, that is His life supplied to us will carry out His work in us. His divine life is rich and sufficient for us and has all that is needed to carry out His transformation work in is. Praise the Lord for this all sufficient grace...!!!

  3. Hi Sandy,

"But the God of all grace who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, when ye have suffered for a little while, himself shall make perfect, stablish, strengthen, ground:"

1 Peter 5:10, Darby Bible Translation

It seems that it is God Himself who shall perfect, strengthen, establish and ground us.

It is interesting that God shall Himself perfect us for there are so many people who say we must try to be perfect. There is no try with God. We must be perfect in every decision, in every action, in every word as far as it depends upon us and our understanding and learning.

As we yield ourselves to the Holy Spirit, we shall be perfected for the sake of Christ. We shall be transformed into his likeness and reflect God's glory in a clearer way. This hope is not just for heaven but is for here and for today. Christ said 'it is finished'. His victory over death and his resurrection has paved the way for us to be reborn in the Spirit. The first birth was in iniquity, the second birth of the Spirit in perfection! By taking captive every thought, by subjecting our will to Christ and submitting to him we can truly hope to be perfected.

In my own personal experience I have found that over this last 2 years, God has truly established, strengthened and grounded me in the hope of the Gospel and the things as yet unseen... It is this hope in the things unseen that gives me the drive to choose Him in every decision and so hope to be fully perfected in Him!

  4. My guess about what you're talking about is suffering.  I do believe that I'm being religiously persecuted but Jesus said that that is a good thing so it's not a big deal to me.

    You're welcome.

  5. THE TRUTH.

I am not quite sure the verse you are referring to here but in order to be perfected, established, strengthened and grounded  one must be in God's truth.

      Here is a good point.

Can a person worship God in Spirit only? or can we only truly worship God in Spirit and Truth?

Can Spirit and truth be separated?

  6. I love this question. I would like to share a small portion with you. I hope as Christians we can see the wisdom in God's word, and agree with Him.

This is not a popular topic with a lot of Christians, but the answer is , it is only after we have suffered a while that we are perfected, established, strengthened and settled. This is one of the reasons we should look at suffering for Christ's sake as glorious, because of what it works in us that believe. All the things that the Apostle Paul suffered for Christ sake, he reckoned them as a " light affliction " because he could see the things that are eternal, and the glory that shall follow.

    2 Corinthians 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Jesus who is our example suffered for us, to reconcile us to God.

The scriptures tell us how He did it, and how we should too.

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Look at what this scripture says, " who for the joy that was set before Him " Jesus seen past His suffering on the cross, He seen the purpose and the reason for His suffering. He seen us being reconciled to God by His own death, He died for us. And praise God, He could see the glory that would follow, God raised Jesus from the dead and Jesus went up to Heaven and is sitting on the right hand of God.

If Jesus suffered for us, we should also be like minded and be willing to suffer for Him.

It is our calling to suffer for Christ sake. Jesus is our example, and we should suffer now for righteousness sake, and not for some wrong that we have done.

1 Peter 2:19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.

20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

I would like to share some more verses how suffering works for our good. Patience comes from having your faith tried, and from going through tribulations. We can also see how many other virtues are added to us by going through tribulations. We grow in the Lord and gain these things when we keep trusting Him and surrendering to Him during these times.

James 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

can you glory in tribulations? look at what we gain from it.

    Romans 5:3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Let us glory in tribulations, suffering for Christ sake knowing that we are called to suffer for Him, and also knowing that it works for us a far greater and eternal weight of glory, and that we are being perfected by Him that called us into His marvelous light.

I would like to share with you the verses in Peter that has to do with this question, but I would like to start a few verses before.

1 Peter 5: 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

8  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

10  But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

This is how we do it, we must first humble ourselves, because God resist the proud but gives grace to the humble. We must take all of our cares and everything to the Lord in prayer, looking for Him to take care of us, because He does love us. We must also be aware that our enemy the devil, is walking about seeking who he may devour, but if we resist him steadfast in the faith, he will flee. ( James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.) We are not alone, our brothers and sisters in Christ are suffering the same afflictions, we shouldn't think that something is wrong with us, or we are strange because we are going through these things. It is the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Jesus Christ. It is Him that will perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle us, but only after we have suffered a while.

With love and sincerity in Christ,

    Andrew
