What, exactly, is hair glaze?

Is it a temporary color? If so, why do they make clear hair glaze? What is it supposed to do?

my hair dresser gave me a glaze, and she said its not exactly high lights but it helps bring out natural highlights and lighten the hair or something, it made my hair lighter for a few months,

again im not positive the definition but thats the rough overview.

it basically just just makes everything shine and enhances natural highlights, clear ones just lock all the color in so it lasts longer [:

It's exactly like hair dye. but with less chemicals. and needs to be re done ever 30 days to be kept nicely colored. here's a website on hair glazes./ products.

It's basically just a money-maker for the stylist, it doesn't really do anything much, they say it makes your hair shiny but my experience with it was that it just made me a little bit poorer.
