Question:

What, exactly, is wrong with allowing g*y people to get married?

If it's a question of "morals" or "ethics", which are relative, what is the reason it is immoral or unethical? I understand how murder, stealing, adultery, lust, greed, selfishness, apathy, and gluttony are immoral. I do not understand how homosexuality is unethical.

Murder: taking away a person's life

Stealing: taking away a person's property

Adultery: hurting the person you are supposed to love

Lust: getting too caught up in s*x MIGHT consume your life and cause problems. s*x is OK, but lust goes too far; I get that.

Greed: doing whatever it takes, including hurting people, to get what you want.

Selfishness: like greed, you don't care about any other person except yourself.

Apathy: not participating in the world, wasting the life you were given

Gluttony: consume too much and become unhealthy (food or drugs)

First, I feel a person should have the right to be a glutton or apathetic, or enjoy a life of lust because it only affects themselves. But I understand how it negatively affects a person, and I understand why it's considered immoral.

However, I do not understand what is wrong with homosexuality.

If the ENTIRE world became g*y, we couldn't survive because we wouldn't produce offspring, but there will ALWAYS be straight people having kids... so that cannot be the problem. Plus artificail incination is possible, but that's besides the point. There will always be straight people; yes, even if there are g*y people.

If "lust" is the problem, which I'm sure is not even the case for many g*y people, how many anti-g*y people can, honestly, say they have never had s*x for any purpose other than having a kid? Just because you have it for a kid 1 or 2 times out of the thousands of times without that purpose, it does not make it any more different. And so what if they aren't having kids? I fail to understand how that is a problem if there are still enough straight people in the world to have kids. There will always be straight people, so that excuse doesn't make sense.

Furthermore, it doesn't hurt or adversly affect anyone who is straight, nor does it force or encourage any straight person to become anything they don't want to become...

So, will you please help me understand what exactly is wrong with a person being g*y? Thank you!

  1. I really have to laugh at all the ignorant comments here about how marriage is about religion.  Really?  Whose religion?  Oh yours, of course.  Pagans and atheists don't get married for real then?

Would it blow your minds if I told you that the concept and traditions of marriage have existed long before your religion existed?  And in cultures without a Christian concept of 'god?'

Seriously, get over yourselves.  Your beliefs do not trump the rights of others.

  2. For you people who keep saying that "marriage" is a spirtiaul word...people who are atheist can still get married and I am sure that people who get married for like 48 hours are exetremely spiritual...alos why would we be more likely to raise g*y children if we had straight parents?

  3. I agree with that one guy.. It has to do with God. Marriage is a very spiritual word. And God did say that men and wife were supposed to get married, not men and men, etc.

So I think that they should have a ceremony and have all the same rights, but they shouldnt use the word "married" because it does have some religious meaning in it.

  4. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Some people believe there is because they were taught that it is, and they lack the mental acuity to judge the logic behind their own thought processes.

Addendum: To those who complain about "marriage" having some innate religious connotation... sorry, no.

Marriage, as far as the American government is concerned, is a *legal contract*, and has *no* religious implications whatsoever.

Any star-bellied sneetch out there who is so d**n petty that they don't want to share "their word" with another group, *you* come up with a different word if you don't like it.

My Constitutionally-guaranteed equal rights take precedence over your religious sensibilities.

  5. Check this out. Marriage is to procreate children. Not adopt or use artificial insemination between two males or two females.

  6. There's nothing wrong with it except what the Bible and Koran say, but we aren't governed by the Bible or Koran so that doesn't matter.  Other than that there's nothing but manufactured reasons. There are plenty of genuine ways that keeping it illegal harms g*y people and their families, however.

  7. You compare g*y marriage to the "7 sins"? Would this be the same for str8 marriage? Two people that are in love and committed solely to each other, have the basic right to be married. I believe in it and some day hope to be encompassed by it!

  8. nothing,

people just get caught up in things like the bible

and wont think differently.. i think it s lame, if u

love someone u should be allowed to marry them.

  9. Absolutely nothing. Anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves.

  10. Their is nothing wrong with g*y people getting married.

  11. if there was nothing wrong with it, then we wouldnt be discussing it now would we. theres nothing wrong with sumone having a g*y mentality, but the lifestyle does. if they raise kids, ofcourse they will grow up with a homosexual mentality, not only that but kids need a mother and father figure, not just one. and not only that, but and i dont mean to force anything on anyone, but homosexuality is wrong or not normal, lets establish that, now if we start making things that seem a little off,  into right and  making them normal, that leads to a pathway of corruption, we wont know what or how to distinguish right from wrong. when thinking about these kinds of topics u can only think about the "now", u have to think about the future and the consequences that are ahead, i really wish there wasnt anything wrong with it, but there is and we cant just go around making wrong things, into right just to make people feel happy, if we start making mentaly ill people as people that are normal and  they were just born that way, im sure our society might crumble, if we start allowing things like homosexual marriges, what wont they allow, incest marriage, pedophile marriage, and it doesnt only go into sexuailty and marraige, there are many other things tht are involved and vary.

  12. nothing is wrong with.

    its love that people

    obviously don't understand..

    x(

  13. nothing

  14. Why are you looking for reasons to hate? ^_^ Just be lucky your enlightened and can see through the homophobes' senseless accusations and retorts.

  15. "Marriage" is a word that infers religious approval.  g**s should be allowed to have civil unions with full marriage rights, but should not be allowed to use the word "marriage".  I also think that children who are raised by g**s are more likely to be g*y or bisexual later in life.  Homosexuality & bisexuality are mostly a lifestyle choice.  There are some exceptions of people who are born g*y due to a genetic mutation.

  16. they just believe its not "right" and its a sin, but personal why do they care there not marrying someone of the same s*x, it just crosses the line of freedom i think. Why do they let people of different faiths get married? if thats not "right" either.

    reality check:

If you don't support g*y marriage guess what? don't freakin' have one.

  17. There are 2 main reasons.  FEAR and INSECURITY

  18. I am curious as to why WooleyBooley again would use Wiki's definition as an argument against, when the definition that Wiki gives includes Same-s*x Marriage.

Perhaps people should actually read a definition before referencing it. Otherwise it just makes them look foolish and stupid.

From the definition itself "People marry for many reasons, but usually one or more of the following: legal, social, and economic stability; the formation of a family unit; procreation and the education and nurturing of children; legitimizing sexual relations; public declaration of love; or to obtain citizenship" .

Procreation is listed as one of the many reasons for marriage, not exclusively as WooleyBooley again was attempting to make as its argument. As I see it, g**s are capable of providing the vast majority of the reasons as listed in this definition.

  19. People 'use' morals/religion to justify their hatred and disgust with g*y people...simple as that...  Some people just like to 'lord' it over other people...pretty sick if you ask me...
