What, if any, significance does the word borderline have in borderline personality disorder?

  1. Ah, I am an expert on this, having had a gf with it.  Actually, the more you come across it, the more it seems most women have it, but that's anothe matter.  It is borderline neurotic/psychotic.  There's a great book called 'Walking on Eggshells'.. Google it.

    personaly I think they should change it to something more relevent

  3. Borderline personality disorder got its name because people with this disorder were perceived as being on the borderline between neurosis and psychosis.

    It can also relate to the high state of anxiety that can overwhelm illegal aliens as they try to sneak across the borderline from one country to another.

    Ok, I made up that second definition. It was totally unnecessary and borderline cruel. Sometimes I can't help myself.

  4. because borderline personalities were considered to be "on the border between neurotic and psychotic". there is a good book called "I hate you - don't leave me" that you may want to read.
