In a situation if a lifeguard did do something wrong. they'd be in a huge heap of trouble and paper work would never end. It depends on a situation also, if giving first aid wrong then the victom has a more likely chance of death or not recovering.

Luckly there are at least 2 lifeguards at pools so if one messes up then the other can take over. I lifeguard and I'm reviewing stuff for my inservice this week

Since I don't know which lifeguard you are talking about I am going to say he was right because only 7% of America is left-handed!

I'm with these people, your question has no details.

In general, lifeguards have the same authority as managers at the pool. They generally have the ability to enforce rules, EVEN IF no such rule exists.

99.9% of the time the lifeguard is either correct in their actions, or no liable.

The only way you could say a lifeguard did something wrong is if they area generally d**k person (nothing to do with lifeguarding) or they injured a person due to a bad rescue (i.e. a person hit their head and they didn't use a backboard, so now the person is paralyzed.)
