I don't want any lists that you copy from websites or textbooks, because I've read all of those!

I'd like some real opinions as to what you think are the wonders of the world, past and present. Feel free to add as many as you want. :)

  1. In no particular order here is what I think:

    1.  Egyptian Pyramids (the only ancient wonder of the original 7 still standing)

    2.  Easter Island  (some people believe that aliens built the statues-but who knows)

    3.  Petra  (have you ever seen THIS place-WOW!-was in Indiana Jones)

    4.  Machu Picchu (most preserved ancient city-truly wondrous)

    5.  The Great Wall of China (can be seen from space)

    6.  Stonehenge  (lots of theories about this place)

    7.  Roman Colosseum (once had a dome when it was first built)

    8.  Taj Mahal (very majestic)

    9.  Chitzen Itza' (decapitated heads were rolled down the side of the pyramid)

For me Machu Picchu and Petra are the top two.  By just looking at the pictures one can see how magical those places are.

I realize they're are no Asian sites but I'm not as familiar with Eastern history.  However, there is one place but I don't know the name of it.  It's a Pyramid (I don't know where) that Buddhists would hike and meditate on the way.  There are inscriptions on the side of the pyramid along the way.  The goal is to figure out what the inscriptions mean (not translating but the actual meaning) before moving on.   If anyone knows the name of this place it would be a great one.  There is sooo much detail on this pyramid.
