Is it age that "separates the men from the boys", or something completely different?

  1. Ah, when he was 12, I asked my son if he knew the difference between being a boy and being a man.  He didn't, and at 16 he's a little closer, but not there yet.

Since he'll never read this, I'll tell you my opinion:  A man is a male who has learned self-control

Another definition I read once:  You officially become an adult when you first make, attend, and pay for a dental appointment all by yourself.

  2. What separates men from boys, is "the cost of their Toys"

girls become women, when they realize .."Guys don't change. and you can't change them..."

  3. To me the difference was always being accountable for your actions. Being responsible and being man or women enough to admit when you made a mistake.

  4. no I think age has little to do with it...but experience, integrity and knowledge fits in there some how for both s*x's.

  5. I don't think there is a definite answer for this. I do believe it comes with knowledge rather then age.

  6. For men/boys I would say maturity, self control, and accountability.

For women/girls I would say maturity, self sufficiency, and  the ability to put one's children (if she has them) above herself

  7. It has nothing to do with age, and everything to do with maturity of mind and actions.

Basically it's when you start taking responsibility for your own life and the consequences of your actions, rather than depending on other people to bail you out.

So that dentist example the guy above gave is a good one.

  8. Age of majority (whatever that is: 18, 19, 21).  But generally, anyone under 22 is pretty much still a kid.
