  1. To be able to enjoy buko pie and sip iced cold mango juice at 10AM - any given weekday - in my balcony overlooking Taal Lake.

  2. Retirement is when I give in to my desire for carefree, tranquil living.  Being financially stable does count because only when I am financially secure will I leave this dog-eat-dog corporate world to enjoy life's simple pleasures.

It is in rustic Aklan that I plan to retire.  There, I'd be happy just being with my loved ones in the home I helped build (I am working not really for myself but for my parents and our dream house).

There, I'd be able to pursue my hobbies like gardening.  I'd spend my days lazing around the garden, reading a good book, listening to some music and writing poems.  It would be 202x then and in that very digital and modern time, I'd probably be blogging too or answering questions in Yahoo Answers.  He he!  I'd also go to Aklan's many beaches, rivers and waterfalls and visit our farms and help harvest the fruits of our labor.  Every once in a while, I'd travel around the country, maybe even abroad.

A simple life, really.  But rewarding nonetheless.

  3. To me retirement has little to do with the place.

I love it here but could be just as happy somewhere else.

This is where the boss wants to live.  She doesn't want to run off to America and neither do I.  We will go someday, but not yet.

  4. going places.
