What 2 things would you take on a random remote place as a useful survival object?

Part of a project for college I have to make a survival object. I have to combine two things, the list includes a compass, map, string, pair of scissors etc. But they all seem boring. Has anyone got a different thing they would take with them ?

Yeah, those things would be terrible. What you need is a salt water filter and an axe. That way surviveing is much less of a challenge.
