Question:

What 3 wood should I buy?

I'm a high handicap golfer--I break 100 occasionally, but not regularly. I'm looking for a club to hit off the deck on par 5s and every once in a while off the tee. Any suggestions for a good 3 wood?

  1. Here is a different answer - try a 3 hybrid instead of a 3 wood.

You will give up maybe 40 yards, but be much more accurate with it because it is more like an iron than a wood - shorter shaft for one.  And you can use it out of the fairway rough all over the course.

550 yard hole - 240 drive - 310 left - 180 for the hybrid leaves 130 most likely back in the fairway.  310 left with a 3 wood (220) leaves 90 but could be in the roughso you gained some yards, but could spray it more.

  2. I have the Adams A3 hybrid-wood and it's a really nice club.  I have a 16 degree regular hybrid also and the distances are fairly close.  The 16 degree regular hybrid (Cobra Baffler) is a bit easier to hit.

  3. Simply put the answer is he one you hit the best.....you jsut have to hit them to find out which you like the best.  It does not matter which particular brand it is...only that you hit it well.

  4. I'm sure you have heard this before but the best way to find a good 3 wood for you is to go try some out. If you ask around at your local golf club you can find out when there are demo days. These are great because you can try out all of the companies clubs and theres someone there to help you. If you are just looking to buy one I would stay with the name brands but don't go for the top end unless that is what you want. I personally play with a taylormade R5 3 wood and it is a great club with a good height on shots and forgiving, also I have heard great things about the Cleveland launcher, and Callaway X 3 woods.

  5. Get the Taylor Made Burner 3 or 5 Wood.

  6. Tour Edge are really good golf brand. I have the five wood and I can hit it up to 200m sometimes. Callaway also have some pretty good woods. Good Luck.

    Have a good one...
