It's a joke from the cult classic novel "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams.  Many of my friends say it's awesome, but I can't read it, I just don't find it funny.

It's from a book by Douglas Adams called "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy." Read it some time. It's really funny.
