What's Alicante town/ city like? Lively? Quiet? Worth a visit/ stay?

Just to add. How can I get from Alicante airport to Alicante town? Bus service? How much will it cost in a taxi?

There are buses from the airport to Alicante town, but it´s not much from there by taxi, ask the taxi driver before you get in his car.

Alicante is like any other town, it´s quite big and the harbour area is very nice, and the park nearby too. There is the castle to visit.

It rather looks as though you have booked a flight, but not finalised where you are going to stay on the Costa Blanca.  I would say that whilst Alicante is interesting and well worth a visit, it would not be high on the list of choices as an actual holiday stay.  You mention "lively" or "quiet", as if you are maybe looking for some entertainment.   Don't forget that from the airport, you are only 7 euros from Benidorm, probably the Mediterranean's top resort for entertainment, & certainly Spain's.   Perhaps a better base than Alicante for visiting other places of interest, too.  And many of these visits can be done for nothing on "NHP" and "Green Tour" trips.  Such places as Altea, Calpe, Villajoyosa, Guadalest, Alicante and, even, Valencia can all be visited for free.

Taxis and buses can be had from the airport to Alicante.  A taxi should be 13 euros to the town centre and a bus, for about 1.20 euro, runs around every 45 minutes.

It's worth a visit-it's certainly nicer than Benidorm (that place is a complete dive,very dirty and full of Brit yobs)..but Alicante is nice,I've been a few times.The airport isn't that far from the town centre so I'd say get a taxi-makes life much easier.

  It has plenty of bars,but manages to remain relatively peaceful depending on what time of year you go,there's a nice beach too and plenty of shops etc. plus you can travel to many of the other towns North & South from there.
