What's DCR DVD in handycam means?

can anyone tell me layman's language , what it means to say DCR, DVD ;;; PAL, NTSC format in handycam

  1. DCR doesn't mean anything that I know of, it's just part of Sony's model numbering.  PAL and NTSC are television formats - NTSC is used in the United States, Canada, Japan, Mexico, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, and a few other countries. PAL is used pretty much everywhere else.  DVD is just that - after people couldn't decide whether it stood for Digital Video Disk or Digital Versatile Disk the DVD committee decided that it didn't stand for anything!
