What's Darwin like to live in?

Question

Aside from the constant year round head, what's Darwin like as a place to live. Is it a place where people settle down and live, or is it more of a place where you go to work, earn lots of money, then go and live and spend it in another part of Australia? Are most of Darwin's perminant residents satisfied with their lifestyle, or do a lot of residents seek to move to another part of Australia, prehaps with more going on or a more temparate climate.

So, as far as lifestyle and living goes, is there much going for Darwin, or should I look elsewhere?

i don't know much about Darwin, but Perth w.a is a great place to settle down and live, should research it, you wouldn't be disappointed. good luck for where ever to decide to live.

Living in Darwin is like living in a small, laid back country town.  Its small, and there is only one of each shop, there.  

The weather does take some getting used to, the dry May through to October the weather is fantasic!  No so good in the wet or built up, its hot and sticky.

Darwin is alot defence force basied so people tend to move around alot.  But the perminate residents love it most of them wouldn't live anywhere else.  They refer to everyone as from down south, and its like you live in another country.

Darwin is very laid back, hence the saying what does N.T. really stand for?  Not Today, Not Tomorrow.... Seriously they have it on shirts, mugs etc.  It takes alot to get used to if you are used to normal speed.

Overall Darwin is a unique place to live!  Enjoy it!

I've only visited there, but speaking to the locals, it doesn't take long to adjust to the climate, and you get used to the tropical storms(cyclones) etc. To be honest, I'm thinking about it myself, it is a beautiful place. The people we spoke to had been there for years and didn't intend on moving, they were very loyal.

Try Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Dont think theres much in Darwin.
