  1. The contiguous 48 states of the United States are split into 4 time zones: Pacific Time, Mountain Time, Central Time, and Eastern Time.  Each one has times that are 1 hour different from the other.  For example, as I'm typing this, I can see on my computer that it is 11:50pm Pacific Time.  This means it is 12:50am Mountain Time, 1:50am Central Time, and 2:50am Eastern Time.

When they say the solar eclipse will show at 7:00 to 7:10am. Eastern Time, it means 4am to 4:10am Pacific Time.  We in California will not be able to see it for several reasons.  First and foremost, it will still be dark here.  To see a solar eclipse, the sun needs to be up.  Second, it's gonna be visible in parts of Canada, northern Greenland, the Arctic, central Russia, Mongolia, and China.  Sucks for us.

NASA, however, is providing coverage of it.  It's at the site I included as my source.

  2. So CA is Western time and the East coast is 3 hours later.

It would occur at 4:00-4:10, CA time.

  3. It is the time in the Eastern Time Zone (New York), which is three hours ahead of the Pacific Time Zone (California) !!!

  4. eastern time is 3 hours ahead of pacific time.
