I mean, how many people live in London now? Just because when I was there months ago, I found the place more overcrowded than ever.

  1. London's population is growing pretty rapidly...

According to the last official census (done in 2001) London's population was 7,172,091. That's worked according to the population figures for all the London boroughs (we call this "Greater London"). There will certainly have been more people living here, even then, since some people will have slipped through the system.

London's population has grown considerably since then and is now reckoned to be around 7.4 million people. Again, you should read this as just the 'official' population -- the real figure is certain to be higher.

Official government projections estimate that by 2016, London's population will have grown to 8.07 million.

  2. about 8 million!

  3. It would depend on your definition of London's boundaries.

  4. Legally about 7.8 to 8 million, illegally about 2million

  5. London's 7.5 million residents account for 12.5 per cent of the UK population (official figures), so add 10% and get 8.25 million.
