Question:

What's Naples like?

I loved Rome and Milan when I went, and I've always fancied Napoli. I know it isn't as rich as the northern cities, and it's quite run-down, but with all it's history, is it still worth a visit?

  1. I'm from Naples, and our is the wonderfullest city in the world.

view, atmosphere, people, food, way of life,... it's an untypical italy's city... different in each aspect (in good and bad)... but it's unique!

from may to october it's the best place in the world, think that you are very close to costiera amalfitana, sorrento, positano, 30min to capri, ischia, ...

wanna bet that if you come here, you'll forget roma and overall milan????  =)))

if you are interested, i can suggest you some good restaurant and places, here or by mail.

    how old are you?

  2. Napoli - YES , you must see it if you love Italy. For me it is a concentration of all I love so much about italy, food, people, traffic jams, way of life - but also some of the negative aspects ... perfect!

make sure you go to the historic Pasticceria 'Scatturchio' (if I remember correctly) and queue to buy a 'crostata' - you will never forget!

Spend a few days in Naples and then go and  explore the very nearby 'Costa Amalfitana' ... WOW!!! is all I can say

  3. I lived there and didnt like it. Too much trash on the side of the roads, they burn everything...it would make a very different impression from the rest of Italy. Worth a visit if you stick to the touristic areas, and try to blend in and learn a bit of Italian. There is a lot of crime there now because of the high unemployment rates.

If you decide to go, keep your money in your pockets, and dont walk around with anything thats worth a dime.

Shopping is very good and you can bargain everything.

  5. I didn't care much for Naples. It is run down and very industrialized. I would think about Florence instead. It is much nicer. I think it has a better feel for the Italian culture as well. But no matter where you go in Italy, you cannot go wrong. Beautiful country, great food and wine, and the Italians are fun and very nice to tourists.
